Bringing Stories to Life: Our Partnership with Anim8

Earlier this year, we were thrilled to be approached by Martin from Anim8, who had an inspiring idea: to collaborate on a storybook project that would reflect the real-life experiences and challenges faced by families connected to Muirhead Outreach Project (MOP).

In March, we hosted a Steering Group at our Family Centre, where Martin introduced the concept. He explained how families could work together with Anim8 to create a unique book that captured key themes and issues that have shaped their lives. The response was overwhelmingly positive—parents and children alike were excited to get involved.

From March to May, the participating families met with Martin weekly. These sessions were filled with creativity and connection. Together, they developed characters, crafted stories, took photos, and brought their ideas to life. The project wasn’t just about storytelling—it was designed to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of the parents involved, offering a space for expression, reflection, and joy and build connection between parent and children.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the comic book is how it weaves in MOP’s core values throughout the stories. Themes of connection, community, inclusion, transparency, sustainability, safety, understanding, and nurture are interspersed

between the pages, offering gentle reminders of what we stand for and the environment we strive to create for every family we support. These values are not just words—they’re the foundation of everything we do.

To celebrate the incredible work and dedication of everyone involved, we held a launch party on Friday, 11th July at our Family Centre. The event featured a red carpet, a delicious buffet, and a heartfelt celebration of the families’ achievements. It was a magical moment to honour their creativity and courage.
