On Saturday 28th February 2026, Muirhead Outreach Project hosted one of its most empowering and uplifting fundraising events yet - a transformational Fire Walk delivered in partnership with Kick Ash Fire Walks at the beautiful Balmalcolm Den.

The night was filled with courage, community spirit and a whole lot of heat - over 400 degrees, in fact! It aligned beautifully with our vision:

A world where every family is empowered to overcome challenges, cultivate healthy relationships and embrace a future filled with positive experiences.

Creating an evening of empowerment and new experiences for those involved.

Stepping Into Confidence

Before anyone approached the fire bed, the 23 brave participants embarked on an hour‑and‑a‑half seminar led by Kick Ash’s experienced facilitator Barry.

This session was more than a safety briefing - it was a chance to explore personal limits, confront doubts and build self‑belief. Through mindset work, group activities and empowering conversations, participants learned to focus on possibility instead of fear.

By the end of the seminar, the shift in the room was undeniable: nerves had transformed into excitement, uncertainty into determination. Everyone walked out of that space taller, bolder and ready for the challenge ahead.

Walking Across Fire

As the night grew darker, the fire glowed brighter. One by one, each participant stepped forward to make their walk - barefoot, focused and fully present.

And then they did it.

Every single person crossed the bed of burning coals, cheered on by an energised crowd. It was a moment of bravery for each participant - a powerful declaration that they were capable of far more than their fears had ever suggested.

For some, it was a lifelong bucket‑list achievement. For others, a moment of personal liberation. But for all, it was unforgettable.

The Power of Leaving Your Comfort Zone

One of the most magical parts of the Fire Walk was witnessing how stepping beyond your comfort zone can unlock personal strength, resilience and a deeper sense of possibility. At Muirhead Outreach Project, we believe that growth happens when people feel safe enough to explore new challenges and nurtured enough to trust their own abilities. The Fire Walk became a powerful symbol of that belief.

With guidance, support, and encouragement, participants discovered that fear doesn’t need to be a barrier - instead, it can be a doorway to courage and self‑belief.

This experience mirrors the values that guide our work every day. When participants took those brave steps across the coals, they demonstrated understanding of themselves, connection with the community cheering them on and the confidence that comes from being part of an inclusive, supportive environment. These moments of transformation reflect the heart of MOP’s mission: Creating Connection & Empowering Families to Thrive. The Fire Walk wasn’t just a fundraiser - it was a living example of what happens when community, courage and compassion come together, helping people feel empowered and allowing them to thrive.

Community Spirit at Its Best

Around 40 spectators gathered to watch, cheer, and support their friends, family members and colleagues. Their encouragement created an atmosphere filled with connection, excitement and pride.

The warmth of the crowd matched the heat of the fire - proof that community support can make even the most daunting challenges feel achievable.

Why It Matters

Events like this help Muirhead Outreach Project continue to deliver vital support for children, young people and families across the community.

Every step across the coals helps us take another step toward building resilience, nurturing potential and creating safe, inclusive spaces for those who need them.

To everyone who walked, spectated, donated, or supported behind the scenes: Thank you.

Your courage, enthusiasm and belief in our mission made this night truly extraordinary.
