Young people's groups
Evening groups – Our evening groups are open to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds across Fife. They run in 6 week blocks and are structured to provide the young people with experiences within their local community as well as team building and life skills at our office in Glenrothes. The groups are held on a Tuesday evening from 6-7.30pm for 6-11 year olds and a Thursday evening from 6-7.30pm for 12-17 year olds. Muirhead workers transport the young people to and from each group and nutritional food is always provided and enjoyed by the young people.
Holiday Clubs – Our holiday clubs are an important aspect of our service as the school holidays can be a difficult time for both parents and young people experiencing family difficulties. Often the food that is offered at our holiday clubs is the only meal that will be available to the young person that day and so we put a strong emphasis on providing nutritionally balanced food and plenty of it. Our holiday groups usually run on a Tuesday from 10-2pm for 6-11 year olds and a Thursday from 11-3pm for 12-17 year olds each week of the holidays. We offer a wide variety of activities during this time and try to give the young people new experiences that they would not normally have access to such as a flying in a light aircraft at Glenrothes airport.
Anti-bullying group - We offer an anti-bullying group in conjunction with the Cairn Mhor childcare partnership. The group runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 4.30-5.30pm and is open to 6-17 year old who are experiencing bullying or are in fact ‘bullies’ themselves. The young people are collected and dropped off by Muirhead sessional workers and the group is run by an experienced social worker who offers the young people advice and strategies in how best to deal with bullying.
