About the Project
The Muirhead Outreach Project (Charity No. SC035629) was set up in June 2004. Our aim is to support children and their families, keeping them together in their own communities.
We offer services to children, young people and families experiencing difficulties. The packages of support are tailor-made to meet individual circumstances but can include:
• an assessment of need,
• intensive support to parents, including training in parenting skills,
• reintegration into school with support,
• school holiday activity schemes,
• support for young people in transition to independence.
We are regulated by the Care Inspectorate and all our staff, sessional workers and volunteers are subject to PVG checks as required by the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. We also use rigourous interview techniques, taking advice from Scottish Executives guidelines.
At present we are working with over 20 children and their families. Many of the children have additional or behavioural support needs and need extra support to reach their full potential.
The Project offers support to families in many ways and more information on our services can be sourced by calling our office on 01592 358713. We are able to be creative in setting up packages which meet individuals, as well as family needs. This is in addition and complimentary to what is available through local authorities.
